The Samon area is located about 20km north of the South Norrbotten–North Västerbotten uranium district. The bedrock geology is dominated by the Svecofennian supracrustal sequence, intrusives and diabases. A major NNE-SSW trending structural feature trends through the target area. Radioactive boulders and outcrops of fractures acid metavolcanic rock containing high contents of thorium (up to 3.5 Th) were located by mineral prospectors in the 1970s, and confirmed by SGU geologists. Although further exploration was recommended, this was never undertaken.

The Company has identified the location and undertaken scintillometer traverses over the area, which confirm the presence of radioactive outcrops and boulders over an area of about 1,500 x 500 metres. All Star plans to explore the area in order to identify further source rocks, and structural sites favourable for high grade thorium and uranium mineralization. Geophysical surveys will be carried out across the target areas to define drill targets, which will be tested by about 1,000 metres of drilling in 2009.
